    Today, Wednesday, the Iraqi Ministry of Planning announced that there are more than 346,000 commercial establishments in Iraq, including more than 28,000 restaurants and cafes, while Baghdad topped the provinces with more than 24% of these restaurants and cafes.
    A statement by the ministry stated that “the Directorate of Trade Statistics affiliated with the ministry carried out” a comprehensive inventory of commercial establishments in Iraq, including the Kurdistan Region, which showed that there are 346,793 commercial establishments, including 318,792 private establishments out of the total commercial establishments, which accounted for 91.9%, while there were food service activities and beverages, which amounted to 28,001 establishments, or 8.1%.
     
    He added, "The results showed that Baghdad is the highest in the number of commercial establishments for wholesale and retail trade, sale and repair of vehicles and motorcycles, which amounted to 21.2%, followed by Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, by 8.8%, then Sulaymaniyah Governorate, by 8.7%, then Nineveh Governorate, by 8.1%, and then Basra Governorate, with 7.5% of the total number of commercial establishments.
     
    And that "Al-Muthanna Governorate was the least among the governorates in the number of commercial establishments, with a rate of 1.9%."
     
    The statement indicated that “the results also showed that the Baghdad governorate is the highest in the number of food, beverage and cafe services establishments, with a rate of 24.3%, followed by the Sulaymaniyah governorate in the Kurdistan Region with a rate of 10.4%, followed by the Basra governorate with a rate of 6.7%, followed by the Erbil governorate with a rate of 6.6%. Followed by Karbala governorate with 6.3% of the total number of food and beverage services establishments, while Muthanna governorate was the least province in the number of food and beverage services establishments, reaching 2.3% of the total number of food and beverage services establishments.
     
    He continued, "The number of commercial establishments that have e-commerce activity amounted to 36,398 establishments, or 11.4% of the total number of establishments," pointing out that "the results showed that the highest percentage of establishments that had e-commerce activity was in Baghdad with a rate of 16.2%, followed by Basra Governorate, with a rate of 16.2%." 12.8%, then the Sulaymaniyah governorate with a rate of 11%, while the Muthanna governorate was the least among the governorates in the number of establishments that have electronic activity, with a rate of 1.1%.
