    Economy News - Baghdad
Today, Sunday, the Ministry of Water Resources counted the number of lawsuits filed against those trespassing on lakes, river banks, canals, and drains in the capital, Baghdad, while indicating the removal of a number of restaurants.
The Director of Water Resources in Baghdad, Uday Salim, said: “Lawsuits have been filed against trespassers on lakes, streams, canals, and rivers, and they have been held judicially accountable,” stressing that “the Ministry will not give up the lawsuit filed against the trespassers.”
Salim added, "The number of lawsuits filed amounted to approximately 1,800 lawsuits, including more than a thousand lawsuits inside Baghdad only. They have attained a final status and include encroachments on lakes, and general encroachments on the banks of rivers, canals, and graveyards."
He pointed out that "there were also violations that included restaurants and they were removed, while there are restaurants under judicial action," stressing that "the judiciary is fully cooperating with the ministry and its law."
