Shafaq News/ The book "The Endless War on Terrorism" was published in the United States, on the 22nd anniversary of the declaration of the war on terrorism, and two decades after the invasion of Iraq.
The book is by the American historian and university professor Alex Lubin, and published by the University of California.
The publication of the book is an attempt to re-read the course of these American battles, which changed a lot in the policies of the United States, its society and its security concepts.
The American "Boeing Boing" website published a reading of the book at the beginning of the new year, according to a report translated by Shafak News agency, saying, "War may be one of the last things that people want to think about at the beginning of the new year."
However, the report indicated that given that the year 2023 "marks the 20th anniversary of the second invasion of Iraq in March 2003 and the 22nd year of the so-called war on terror, a review of the origins of this endless war and its ongoing narrative is perfectly appropriate."
The report stresses the importance of the book because it raises questions among the generations born after the beginning of the 21st century and those born before the year 2000, about postulates related to the war on terrorism, the penetration of the security services everywhere in society, and the transformations that took place with regard to the private lives of the common people, feelings and actions. Anti-Arabism, with the strong rise of white Christian nationalism, and the economic changes of security capitalism, in addition to the distortion and disregard for historical facts and presenting the United States as a “victim” and that the events of September 11 have no history, and that the global war on everything that is anti-American, They are exceptional moments.
"This is some of what Alex Lubin deals with in his book," the report said.
"An entire generation of young people has never known America without the war on terror," the report quotes Lubin as saying.
Lubin continued, "His book also deals with the widespread effects of post-9/11 politics and myth-making in all corners of American life, adding that the endless war on terrorism is based on 5 key words that contribute to shaping the political and cultural moment in the United States, which are home, security, privacy, and torture." And the drone.”
In his book, Lubin brings together nearly two decades since the United States launched the war on terrorism, and raises questions about the changes it has made to politics and society, through the "Patriot Act" and the establishment of the Department of Homeland Security, Edward Snowden, Guantanamo Bay and the "Trumpian" phenomenon (Donald Trump). .
Lubin describes the five key words as a strand of DNA through which to understand the main building blocks of the war on terror.
The report concluded by pointing out that the book "The Never Ending War on Terror" explains the reasons for the American war and at the same time how the history and consequences of the war were ignored, describing the importance of the book as being brief and revealing of facts.
