Shafaq News / The head of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee, Khaled Al-Obaidi announced today, Tuesday, that the committee will present binding recommendations to the government to stop the continuation of the Turkish and Iranian attacks on Iraqi lands, while a delegation from the Kurdistan Parliament called on the members of the committee to visit the region and see the views of the legislative authority regarding the joint files.
Al-Obaidi's media office said in a statement received by Shafaq News agency, "The head of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee, Khaled al-Obaidi, received in his office in Baghdad a parliamentary delegation from the Kurdistan Region Parliament, headed by the head of the Interior, Security, Local Councils and Peshmerga Committee, Shakhwan Rauf Bey."
The statement added that "the meeting, which took place in the presence and participation of members of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee, discussed the development of mechanisms for cooperation in the field of federal legislation and laws, and coordination on security threats, in addition to discussing a number of basic issues, foremost of which are the Turkish and Iranian attacks on Iraqi lands and ways to support border protection." and representing the region in the Joint Operations Command, as well as other security files.
Al-Obeidi stressed to the guest delegation that "Iraq is a sovereign state that refuses to violate its lands or attack its people, and its constitution prohibits the use of its lands to threaten its neighbors," noting that "the Security and Defense Committee made binding recommendations to the government to stop the continued attacks on its lands."
The statement indicated that "the head of the Kurdistan Parliament delegation presented his vision to support cooperation between the security committees in the federal parliament and the Kurdistan Region," calling on the Parliamentary Security Committee to "visit the region to see the views of the legislative authority on joint files."
The Kurdistan Region is witnessing continuous air and artillery attacks launched by the Turkish and Iranian forces on lands in the region, claiming that there are organizations or parties hostile to them, amid the confirmation of the regional and federal governments of the need to resort to dialogue, and Iraq's insistence that it not be a springboard to threaten the security of its neighbors.
