    Baghdad today - Baghdad
Three deputies filed a lawsuit against the Speaker of Parliament, Muhammad al-Halbousi, because of the latter's cancellation of the membership of a deputy from the Parliamentary Integrity Committee.
According to the petition, which was received by (Baghdad Today), “Representative Duraid Jamil Ishou, Basem Khazal Khashan, and Hadi Hassan Mreij, filed a lawsuit against Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi to cancel the membership of a deputy from the Integrity Committee .”
According to the petition, the lawyer said in explaining its details, “My client is challenging Parliamentary Resolution No. (22) of 2023 issued by the Speaker of the House of Representatives based on what the members of Parliament decided in Session No. (2) on January 18/2023/2023 because he falsified the truth, and canceled the membership of the plaintiff, Representative Duraid Jamil Ishou, in the Parliamentary Integrity Committee, despite the members of Parliament voting on his membership in this session.
He added, “In the recordings attached to the petition of this lawsuit, the defendant had to convey in his contested decision what the members of the House of Representatives decided by a simple majority in accordance with Article 59/Second of the Constitution, faithfully without omission or addition, distortion or forgery.”
He called for "the cancellation of the contested decision, and its legal effects, including the results of their parliamentary committee elections, which took place after excluding one of its members and depriving him of his right to run and vote, in accordance with Article 72 of the House of Representatives by law.”
