The Ministry of Planning stated that work is in full swing to complete the five-year national development plan from 2023-2027, which will focus on important aspects of the general conditions surrounding society.
The official spokesman for the ministry, Abdul Zahra Al-Hindawi, told Al-Sabah that work is continuing to complete the plan, pointing to the formation of a committee headed by the technical undersecretary of the ministry in this regard, and it continues its weekly meetings to complete it.
And he indicated that the ministry is still in the stage of defining the general frameworks of the plan, its philosophy and vision, as well as setting timelines, pointing out that it has not entered into its details and what it includes of policies and procedures and the economic model that will be followed in this plan.
Al-Hindawi confirmed that the ministry has taken into account - in light of the preparation of this strategy - the challenges and risks that it may face during the next five years, whether they are economic, social or environmental.
And he added that when preparing the strategy, focus was placed on the climate aspect, as it is very important and must be a priority, as the whole world suffers from climate changes, and Iraq is one of the countries most affected by these changes, such as rain scarcity and lack of water imports, which led to desertification, which could cast a shadow. on vulnerable groups in society.
He pointed out that the strategy will also go towards exploiting clean energy, relying on solar energy and reducing water use, by using modern methods in agriculture, and this comes within the framework of facing the challenges of climate change.
