Parliamentary Energy: The electricity problem will not disappear before 2027

A member of the Electricity and Energy Committee in Parliament, Hussein Al-Battat, said that the electricity problem in Iraq cannot be fully resolved before at least 2027.
Al-Battat said, in an interview with "Al-Sabah": "The largest share of the electricity contracts went to the international companies Siemens and General Electric, in addition to the great interest of the Prime Minister in this file," noting that "if sufficient financial allocation is available for the electricity sector with a commitment Companies with their full contracts with the ministry, we can say that the crisis can end completely in the year 2027.
He added, "The problem does not lie only in production, but there are problems in the transfer stations and transmission lines between stations and distribution," noting that "it is necessary to work unified and continuously in all of these sectors to end the crisis completely."
Regarding the use of clean energy, Al-Battat explained that "this type of energy is the project of the current government, and in the future it will be dependence on electric energy produced from clean energy projects," adding that "at the present time these technologies in Iraq have some problems that need time, The percentage of generation in it does not meet the need and it needs large areas of land by relying on solar energy, and this means extending the grid with electricity for 6 hours during the day.
He explained that "it is necessary to search for additional alternative energy sources in this direction to be a tributary to the national production, but it is not possible to rely on clean energy sources completely at the present time."
