    Baghdad today - Baghdad
A member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee ruled out holding a parliament session next Tuesday to vote on the draft financial budget law.
Mustafa Al-Karawi told (Baghdad Today): "The committee's work has been suspended until now, and no agreement has been reached on holding a session. I do not think that a session will be held on Tuesday. If a political decision is taken to pass the budget, this is a real problem, given that the financial committee's procedures have not ended yet."
He added, "We hope that work will resume within the Finance Committee and that it will proceed with completing the remainder of the budget until it is duly submitted to the Council."
Al-Karawi continued, "As for the discussions with the Kurdistan region, it is assumed that they will be resolved soon."
The First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, announced yesterday, Saturday, that the political blocs agreed to pass the financial budget bill this week.
Mandalawi told (Baghdad Today): "There are some differences with the Kurds, and we will proceed to settle them," noting that "there are committees and continuous meetings between Baghdad and the Kurdistan region to solve problems regarding the budget."
He added, "The figures in the deficit remained the same, but we promise a service budget for citizens this year, and it will meet the aspirations of the Iraqi people."
While the leader of the Victory Coalition, Aqil Al-Rudaini, set today, Sunday, a specific period of time in order to end the differences over the 2023 budget and to vote on it by the House of Representatives.
Al-Rudaini told (Baghdad Today), that "reaching understandings to reach satisfactory solutions for all parties may be achieved within a week or 10 days, which will contribute to putting the budget to vote on it in Parliament."
According to sources, the coordination framework and the state administration agreed to pass the budget during the current week.
It is noteworthy that the House of Representatives failed, earlier, to hold a session to vote on the budget because of the continuing dispute over the share of the Kurdistan region, which refused any amendment regarding it.
