Parliamentary parties renewed their emphasis on following up on any attempts to exploit public money for electoral purposes by candidates for the provincial council elections, whether as conservative figures or others holding senior government positions.

Member of the House of Representatives, Firas Al-Muslimaoui, confirmed in a press statement, “Members of the House of Representatives will exercise their oversight role and function granted to them by the Constitution and the Council’s internal regulations,” pointing out that “the relevant committees follow up on all executive positions, whether they are at the level of ministers, governors, or participating general directors.” In local elections, to prevent their exploitation of office or money, which is the private property of the people and not of a specific group, party, or person.

Al-Muslimaoui added, “Members of the House of Representatives will exercise all the oversight tools granted to them by the Constitution and the bylaws of the House of Representatives, and the measures may amount to isolating or preventing any official from participating in the elections, if it is proven that he is involved in exploiting the position or state money for propaganda and referring his papers to the judiciary.”

He added, “The Council is now following up all candidates who run executive positions and positions with force and precision,” noting that “the legislative and supervisory authority will not tolerate any monitoring related to the exploitation of the position or money by any person in executive positions or any entity or party that is affiliated.”
