Baghdad threatens “generator owners”: There will be no retreat from installing meters, and the violator will be punished

An official source in Baghdad Governorate confirmed, today, Monday (November 13, 2023), the decision to install “meters” in all generators in the capital, while indicating that the violator will expose himself to legal accountability.
The source said in an interview with "Baghdad Today", "The plan to install generator meters is taking place and only as planned, and any generator owner who refuses to do so will have legal measures taken against him, and his generator will be removed, so do not tolerate this matter at all."
The source, who requested to remain anonymous, stated, “At the beginning of the new year, all generators in the capital, Baghdad, will have (meters), and there are specialized committees that conduct daily tours of all areas of the capital. Therefore, implementing the decision requires some time, in order for meters to be present in Baghdad’s generators.” all".
Yesterday, Sunday (November 12, 2023), Baghdad Governorate gave generator owners until the end of this month to install meters, and obligated administrative units to follow this process in order to calculate operating hours.
The Governor of Baghdad, Muhammad Jaber Al-Atta, said that the governorate issued its decisions at the beginning of this month obliging government and private generator contractors to install meters in order to calculate the hours of electricity operation, according to the official Al-Sabah newspaper.
He added that there are special committees that will work to connect these meters in all areas of Baghdad successively during the current month, until collection is completed by the end of this month.
