Shafaq News/ With the approach of a new year and turning the page on 2023, the wishes of Iraqis are renewed at the public level, as most of them agree that “security and economy” are achieved as a wish they would like to fulfill in the new year.
Shafaq News Agency surveyed the opinions and aspirations of the Iraqi street in the city of Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region.
Ali Samir, a citizen of Nineveh Governorate visiting Erbil to celebrate New Year’s Day, told Shafaq News Agency, “The wish that every citizen of Nineveh hopes for is an improvement in conditions in the governorate and the return of the displaced without problems after years of displacement in the governorates of the Kurdistan Region, in addition to security.” And stability for all of Iraq and the resolution of political differences.”
Speaking to Shafaq News Agency, Amir Al-Shammari, a citizen of Baghdad residing in Erbil, hopes to “solve the economic problems that young people suffer from in particular, as it is important for government agencies to find solutions to the unemployment crisis and appoint graduates, as well as long-term solutions such as reviving the sector.” And activating the labor law in Iraq, and this is what every Iraqi young man hopes for in the new year.”
In turn, Kamran Salam, a Kurdish citizen from Erbil, confirmed to Shafaq News Agency, “The wish of the Kurdish people with the New Year is to solve the employee salaries crisis that has exhausted citizens economically and affected the movement of markets, in addition to ending the disputes between Erbil and Baghdad once and for all.”
