    Economy News - Baghdad
Today, Saturday, the Federal Integrity Commission revealed violations, suspicions of corruption, and non-compliance with technical specifications in more than (20) projects worth (31,000,000,000) billion dinars in Dhi Qar Governorate.
The Government Information and Communications Office stated in a statement received by Al-Iqtisad News that “the Central Committee for Review and Approval in Dhi Qar Governorate has suspended the referral of (18) projects in Shatrah, Souq Al-Shuyoukh and Nile Street,” indicating that “the value of the projects amounted to (19,322,533,500) billion dinars.” Within food security projects, the committee did not approve their referral or organize contracts for their implementation by the governorate, despite the fact that the Bid Analysis and Evaluation Committee referred them for implementation.
He added, "The work team of the Authority's investigation office in Dhi Qar monitored the non-compliance of the work on the street construction project in the Street (30) area with the technical specifications," noting that "the report of the External Audit Division in the office pointed out that there were no handover records or direct work on the project." The cost amounted to (6,296,562,251) billion dinars, and the implementing company violated a number of clauses of the contract, in addition to not organizing the minutes of the meeting of the committee for analyzing and awarding bids.”
The office explained that “poor implementation was observed in the project to establish the Shatrah Corniche/second phase implemented by Al-Faw Company as part of the regional development plan for the year 2013 at a cost of (3,343,380,000) billion dinars, pointing to the presence of collapses and fractures in the concrete pouring, and the presence of “settlements and cracks” in the wall. The prevailing situation, and the landing of sidewalks in various places of the project, in addition to the lack of insurance for the project, which led to the beneficiary department refraining from final receipt of the project, pointing to technical violations that were committed in the project to rehabilitate and pave rural roads in Al-Batha District, with a value of (2,373,246,000) two billion dinars.” .
He pointed out, “There are suspicions of corruption in (12) compensation transactions for people affected by the practice of torture by the former regime, the sums of which were disbursed by the Compensation Committee in the governorate office, in violation of the applicable law and controls. In the municipality of Nasiriyah, a distortion was detected in the minutes of allocating plots of land.” By adding new names and deleting others from the original report approved by the governor, in addition to the municipality’s inclusion of a property in the allocation records for political prisoners and allocating it to a political prisoner, despite it being allocated and registered to the heirs of a soldier, as the municipality’s calculator and records show.”
He continued, “In the municipalities of Al-Rifai and Shatrah, overpricing and violations were noted in the rehabilitation of the park opposite the Al-Rifai Silo, which was implemented by the municipality at a cost of (99,991,000) million dinars, and the preparation of games for the “Butterfly Park” in Shatrah at the amount of (35,054,000) million dinars.”
