The Directorate of Civil Status, Passports and Residence in the Ministry of Interior announced today, Thursday, that the number of those registered in the civil information system for the national card has reached 35 million, while indicating that the adoption of the electronic mechanism facilitated the granting of the national card within 48 hours.
The Director of the Civil Status Directorate, Major General Nashaat Al-Khafaji, said, “The Directorate adopted an electronic mechanism to receive citizens, especially in the passport and national card projects,” indicating that “the adoption of the mechanism came in implementation of the terms of the government program prepared by the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers and under the guidance of the Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari.
Al-Khafaji explained that "the number of those registered in the civil information system for the national card has reached 35 million citizens," noting that "a unified electronic registration mechanism has been adopted in all governorates."
He added, "There is a large influx of citizens to the unified card," noting that "work is underway to adopt the national card as the sole holder in applying for all transactions based on the statement issued by the Ministry of Interior in this regard."
He added, "The directorate's departments are witnessing momentum from citizens, but an expanded organizing mechanism has been put in place in order to facilitate the completion of the transaction without complexity, as the directorate's departments, which number 328 departments in all governorates, including the Kurdistan region, receive approximately 50 thousand citizens." He noted that "the adoption of the electronic mechanism and the organization of work within the departments allowed the citizen to obtain the national card within a period of 48 hours from the date of submission."
