    Official sources in the Maysan Governorate Council confirmed that they had received several offers from international companies to invest in the governorate’s marshes, while indicating that they supported referring them for investment.
    Tourism affairs specialist Hassan Ali Abdul Karim said: “The marshes of Iraq are distinguished from other wet areas around the world by several characteristics, the most important of which is the specificity of each season of the year in terms of environmental changes and the presence of migratory birds that come to these places from the farthest regions of the world.”
    He pointed out that the marsh areas need to establish infrastructure and establish tourism and other projects, and the marsh areas must be offered for investment, noting that "the past years have witnessed a number of investment offers from major international companies to invest in the marshes."
    He pointed out that "the offers presented by international companies include starting to restore the infrastructure and establishing important tourism projects, such as entertainment projects, hotels, and others, provided that they are part of the marshes' living system so that their picturesque nature
    and view are not lost."
    The Iraqi marsh areas were included in the World Heritage List at the end of last year, which is considered positive by all standards at the local and international levels, as they now have international rights to preserve their wet environment.
    As for the specialist in tourism affairs, Mustafa Al-Saadoun, he described activating cooperation with international companies specialized in tourism affairs as representing the most important steps to activate the tourism sector and make it a permanent financial resource, calling for the importance of having bilateral agreements with major companies specialized in the field of sending tourists to the marsh areas, which are considered wet sites. Distinctive in the world.
    He pointed out that Iraq qualifies to be in an important position among the world's tourist countries, as it has all types of tourism, and this matter is unique to it among the countries of the world.
    He explained that Iraq is looking for diversity in resources, and in the tourism aspect, there is a real multiplicity of its resources and is characterized by permanence. We can start from the marsh areas, which have begun to attract tourists from inside and outside the country, and the tourism sector can achieve rapid development in all its aspects quickly due to the presence of the elements of rapid development and economic feasibility. big for the country.
    It is noteworthy that Al-Saadoun had stressed the need for us to have a qualified tourism sector to manage this vital joint and to create colleges and institutes in most universities so that their outputs are qualified to contribute effectively to the advancement of tourism within Iraq.
    He pointed out the importance of Iraq adopting short, medium and long-term strategic plans to advance the tourism sector, provided that this coincides with preparing the tourism expertise necessary to develop this important sector.
