    Catharanthus roseus

    • Type: Annual
    • Light: Part shade
    • Plant spacing: 9 to 12 inches apart
    • Plant size: 12 inches tall

Although very much a warm-weather plant, our vincas have been selected because they are less sensitive than other varieties to a late spell of cool, wet weather that can occur in spring. They resist stress-induced leaf yellowing common with many vincas. The pretty, dark-green plants branch well from the base so that the plants are fuller. Use them in masses in beds or as a filler to gently spill over the side of a container. Easy to grow.
You may have seen naturalized vincas thriving in very poor soil on the side of the road. Our hybrids are different in that they have larger and more spectacular flowers. They also prefer a fertile, well-drained soil and a little fertilizer at planting. Once established they will thrive in hot, dry locations. Plant in spring after all danger of frost is past.
Some Bonnie Plants varieties may not be available at your local stores, as we select and sell varieties best suited to the growing conditions in each region.
