[ltr]The official Iraqia Sat Channel reported on Tuesday “The Iraqi delegation which is visiting Russia currently headed by the Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki agreed today with the Russian government to open the Baghdad-Moscow airline.”[/ltr]
[ltr]“They also agreed on facilitating the entry of the businessmen and grant visas for the Iraqis to Russia,” according to the report.[/ltr]

Al-Maliki and his Russian counterpart announce the opening of the route between Baghdad and Moscow

He met with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki in Moscow said Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

A statement from Maliki's Office received a copy of today's Ambassador that he "discussed the development of relations and expand cooperation between the two countries in all fields, and discussed developments in the region and to exchange views on the crisis and ways to solve them."

According to the statement, Al-Maliki called for "the development of bilateral relations in political, economic, defence, energy, trade and investment, underlining the importance of the common quest for cultural cooperation and give more fellowships for Iraqi students at Russian universities".

The statement said Medvedev said "Russia is keen to develop relations with Iraq and want to have Iraq State strong and effective role in the region." The statement stressed that "it was agreed to hold the next meeting of the joint high Committee chaired by Iraqi and Russian heads of Government in Baghdad.

During the meeting, said "the opening of the route between Baghdad and Moscow in August next, facilitate the entry of business visas for Iraqi citizens to Russia," and reaffirmed "the need to activate the scientific and cultural cooperation between the two countries",
