    Oil Minister Jabbar al-Allaibi on Monday stressed the importance of expanding the participation of British oil companies in the development of the oil sector in Iraq.

    Al-Luaibi said during his meeting with British Ambassador in Baghdad Frank Baker and his accompanying delegation that "the need to strengthen and develop the relationship between the two countries in all fields, especially in the oil and gas industry." He called for "expanding the participation of British oil companies in the development of the oil sector in Iraq."

    He pointed out that "creating the appropriate environment for the work of foreign companies to continue progress in the work for the development of this important economic sector."

    For his part, the British ambassador said the government and companies of his country to promote joint cooperation with Iraq at all levels nominally in the oil and gas sector.
