Baghdad, the capital of Arab media, under the patronage of Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, Secretary General of the League of Arab States Ahmed Aboul Gheit, and with the participation of Arab Ministers of Information and Assistant Secretary-General, Head of the Media and Communication Sector of the Arab League Secretariat, Haifa Abu Ghazaleh.
This celebration comes in implementation of the decision of the Council of Arab Information Ministers issued by the 48th ordinary session to choose Baghdad as the capital of Arab media for the year 2018.
The idea of the Arab media capital is to raise the efficiency of media and media in the Arab countries, through training, workshops and raising the level of discussion and dialogue on a range of Arab media issues.
Last year, the Executive Council of Arab Ministers of Information chose Jerusalem as the Arab Media Capital of 2017, before the Council decided in November of the same year that the city itself would become a permanent capital for Arab media in support of the Palestinian cause.
