Dollar rises due to trade tensions
The dollar rose against a basket of currencies on Monday amid fears of a possible major escalation of the Sino-US trade dispute, while the Swedish krona rose after the previous day's election.
US President Donald Trump warned on Friday that he was ready to impose tariffs on virtually all imports from China to the United States, which foresees a $ 267 billion charge for commodities plus $ 200 billion worth of goods that are already threatened with charges .
The dollar index, which tracks the performance of the greenback against a basket of six currencies, rose almost 0.1 percent to 95,472, not far from a three-week high of Tuesday's close of 95.737.
Swedish krona rose after the country's election on Sunday, which saw an increase in support for the Swedish National Democrats.
The krona rose 0.6 percent against the euro to 10.43 kronor.
Sterling stood at $ 1.2915, while the euro fell to $ 1.1544 and fell more than half a percentage point in the previous session following US jobs data.
