The US Army: We will remain in Iraq

The Commander of the US Central Command, General Kenneth McKenzie, confirmed that US forces remain in Iraq and are present on its territory at the request of the Iraqi federal government.
"We are in Iraq at the request of the Iraqi government, and we are continuing to fight against ISIS in cooperation with the (international) coalition," MacKenzie said in an interview with Al Hurra TV, on Thursday, adding that "this battle is not over yet."
McKinsey praised the role of the Iraqi army, which was launched to assume a "leadership position," as he described it. The American general said, "The Iraqis are fighting on their own. Our mission has shifted from direct combat to greater support and training, and we are far from fighting on the ground. This is the position we want To see it develop. "
McKinsey made it clear that the future of US forces in Iraq would be determined "through negotiations with the government of Iraq," stressing, "I think we will not leave Iraq soon."
