On Saturday (July 10, 2021), the Foreign Relations Committee in the House of Representatives expressed its rejection of many of the names that were nominated among the list of the 80 ambassadors of the State of Iraq, while revealing 3 criteria, according to which the selection was made.
Committee member Mukhtar al-Moussawi told  IQ News that "the criteria that were adopted in selecting the list of 80 ambassadors for Iraq to various countries of the world are quotas, partisanship and the degree of relatives," noting that "the list of ambassadors presented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Council of Ministers, and approved by the latter, is rejected by the We accepted."
He added that "many of the nominated names are hovering around suspicions of corruption and suspicious links existing," stressing that "the political blocs stand behind the nomination of these names, but in front of public opinion they abandon their responsibility, and this is not true."
And he indicated that "foreign relations will have a say inside the parliament if these names are put to the vote," noting that "voting on the candidates will be on the basis of competence and integrity, away from nepotism and nepotism."
Last week, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs presented the names of candidates for the rank of ambassador to the Council of Ministers, which provoked an objection by political blocs, who accused the choices of being subject to quotas and affiliation.
