Today, Thursday, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs called on the Iraqi Foreign Ministry to send notices to international organizations specialized with people with disabilities, in order to coordinate and cooperate with the Authority for the Care of People with Disabilities exclusively.
And the ministry added in a statement received by Earth News, "As per Law No. (38) of 2013, the Authority for the Care of People with Disabilities and Special Needs was established affiliated to the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, and thus it is considered the only official body in the Republic of Iraq that includes all segments of people with disabilities."
And the ministry called for “not to deal with any civil gathering of people with disabilities, as there are those who deal with these organizations to achieve personal goals and try to detract from the work of the commission and its efforts to enforce the articles of the aforementioned law and the need to limit the efforts and support of these organizations to an official body that is the advocate and supporter.” For all segments of people with disabilities represented by (the Authority for People with Disabilities and Special Needs).”
It also demanded that in the event of non-compliance by these organizations to the above, "not to allow them to operate inside Iraq."
