The Ministry of Commerce denied the existence of concerns about securing the ration card items, pointing to the presence of sufficient stocks of wheat.
The ministry's spokesman, Muhammad Hanoun, said, "The status of the ration card is reassuring and not worrisome, as is the case with wheat."
Hanoun added, "The ministry has enough reserves for us until the end of the year, in addition to the fact that there is an import plan that started with (100) thousand tons of American wheat, and 300 thousand will be of different origins according to a public tender during this week or next week."
He pointed out, "The ministry is moving towards controlling its situation with regard to storage as well as processing, as there are a number of administrative and technical measures aimed at putting things in the right quorum, and the absence of a real crisis in the near future."
Hannoun noted that "the ministry's measures are to expand the private sector and find a parallel line between the two sectors."
He pointed out, "The ministry was able to provide flour in cooperation with the private sector at low prices in the local market, so there is no increase in light of the ministry's intervention."
Hanoun went on to say that "Iraq is the best country in the region because it did not remove food support from the ration card, and also did not raise the subsidy for flour."
