    The General Company for Iraqi Ports announced the completion rates achieved for the Al-Faw Grand Port project, while confirming its intention to introduce rail transport to the northern and southern berths of Umm Qasr.
    The Director General of Iraqi Ports, Farhan Al-Fartousi, said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency, seen by / information / that "the port of Faw has reached a completion rate of 40% for one of the projects, which is considered the most important, which is the five berths project," stressing "the varying percentages of completion in the remaining projects."
    He added, "The time periods for the implementation of the five projects that were concluded at the end of 2020 and began work on them in August 2021 are considered to be advanced," stressing that "the Al-Faw port project will be completed in its record time, scheduled for mid-2025."
    Regarding the executing company of the large port of Faw, Al-Fartoussi confirmed that "the South Korean Daewoo company is the only one involved in the implementation of the project, and it is monitored by the Italian company Techental and the staff of the General Company for Iraqi Ports."
    The Director General of Iraqi Ports, Farhan Al-Fartousi, explained that "the Al-Faw port project is a strategic port and is considered one of the most important global stations for transit trade, and therefore there must be joint coordination and vision with the main stations globally, especially the stations located in China, the port of Busan, the port of Singapore, the port of Gwadar and Jebel Ali." and Abu Dhabi."
    In the same context, he indicated, "The five berths that are being completed have a capacity of two million operational containers and 3 million as a maximum capacity."
    Speaking of rail transportation in the ports, Al-Fartousi indicated that there is a project to include all railway transport to the northern and southern ports of Umm Qasr, as well as the oil ports, which is Khor Al-Zubayr port designated for the export and import of oil derivatives. In order to activate the railway sector in order to reduce pollution and deterioration of roads in general, in addition to increasing revenues, since rail transport is less expensive than road transport.
