    Earth News / An informed government source revealed today, Thursday, the most important terms of the agreement between the Iraqi government and international energy companies.
    The source told Earth News Agency, “The terms of the memorandum of understanding between the Iraqi government and the American company (GE) after a memorandum of understanding was signed with Germany’s Siemens last January include the government’s directions to contract with discreet international companies that manufacture equipment, such as the two companies (Siemens) in addition to (GE).
    He added, "After a memorandum of principles of cooperation was signed with (Siemens) on January 13, during the Prime Minister's visit to Germany, a memorandum of principles of cooperation is being signed today with (GE), aiming to address the obstacles that faced the procedures for executing the projects previously.   " And that it was included in the memorandums of cooperation previously signed between the Ministry of Electricity and the company, including financing obstacles in addition to the instructions of the new financing institutions that it is impossible to finance projects that operate on fossil fuels by fixing the projects included in the Ministry’s plan that will contribute to increasing energy production and reducing the acute shortage in energy supply as well as Addressing the bottlenecks in the transportation sector, improving the performance efficiency of the units currently operating, and establishing a monitoring center for them, in addition to projects for the exploitation of associated gas.
    And the source continued, “On this basis, a contract was signed this morning with (GE) for long-term maintenance work for a period of five years to sustain the work of the energy production units that were equipped by the company, in addition to increasing the work efficiency of the energy production units currently operating through updating the attached systems.” In it, as well as conducting studies for the exploitation of associated gas.
    He concluded by saying, "It was agreed to implement a number of secondary stations of 400 kva   in addition to 133 kva with their connections in the various governorates of Iraq, and the establishment of a monitoring center for the performance and work of generating units, and a training center for the cadres of the Ministry of Electricity, as well as the establishment of stations for the production of electric power and in stages commensurate with the fuel." available and financing.
