The Parliamentary Oil, Gas and Natural Resources Committee revealed today, Sunday, that the port of Khor al-Amaya has been permanently stopped due to the failure to implement its rehabilitation projects.
A member of the committee, Bassem Al-Gharibawi, said, "The committee had previously visited Basra Governorate, and noticed that the port of Al-Amaya was completely stopped, while it was supposed to implement two pipelines so that Iraq could raise its oil production to 6 million barrels if approval was obtained."
Al-Gharibawi added, in an interview with the official newspaper, "Al-Sabah", which was followed by Mawazine News, that "the committee also looked at oil pipelines that had been damaged inside the water, which prompted the committee to host the Minister of Oil and general managers to talk about this issue."
And he continued, "The advanced staff in the Ministry of Oil complained about the lack of allocations allocated in the previous budgets for the implementation of these projects, but they confirmed the ability to carry out, develop and improve them to increase export capacity, and thus raise the state's oil revenues in the budget."
