Shafaq News/ The Kurdistan Regional Government confirmed, on Wednesday, its commitment to any action taken by the Central Bank of Iraq regarding the dollar.
The official spokesman for the Kurdistan Regional Government, Bishwa Hawrami, said in a press conference attended by Shafaq News Agency, “With regard to the issue of salaries, the amounts that are sent to the region are spent on the salaries of the unpaid months, and for the other months, we will discuss with Baghdad, and there is openness and good understanding with the federal government in particular.” With the Prime Minister of the Federal Government, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani.”
He added, "With regard to the dollar issue, it is related to the central bank, and any action taken by the central bank, the Kurdistan Regional Government will be committed to it."
Peshwa Hawrami continued, "With regard to the issue of provincial councils, these councils in the Kurdistan Region are still continuing their work."
Regarding the issue of reform within the Ministry of Peshmerga, Hawrami said, “Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, from the first day of the work of the ninth cabin, was always enthusiastic about accelerating the reform process within the ministry, and we ask those who have influence in the Peshmerga forces to step forward to accelerate this process.”
He continued, "With regard to the regional employees' strike, the regional government played its role in terms of demanding the salaries and rights of the employees, similar to the rest of the regions of Iraq, and the right that the employees were deprived of is not with the regional government."
Hawrami pointed out that "the cessation of exporting the region's oil has harmed everyone, and the obstacle to resuming exports is the oil production expenses, which were estimated at $6 per barrel, but oil production in a number of the region's refineries is more than this amount."
He continued, "With regard to the memorandum that was signed to deliver employees' salaries directly from Baghdad, everyone who signed this memorandum is not responsible before the blood of the martyrs, before the Kurdistan Parliament, before the Kurdistan government, and before the struggle undertaken by the regional government."
He added, "If those who signed this memorandum had read the Iraqi constitution, they would not have made this mistake because the articles related to the regions completely contradict what was mentioned in this memorandum."
He concluded by saying, "I hereby want to tell them that the federal government will not implement these demands because we are the owners of a government and the owners of a federal territory."
