Immigration: The displacement issue is “complex” and we need time to close it

It was hoped that the files of displaced families would be closed by last September, in accordance with the directives of the Ministry of Immigration and Displacement, which considered non-returning families integrated into the areas to which they were displaced.
After three months had passed since this file had not been completed, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Immigration and Displacement, Dr. Karim Al-Nouri, attributed the delay to the fact that the displacement file was “very complex,” and the ministry needed time to finish it.
Al-Nouri added, in an interview with Al-Sabah, that closing the file was part of the program of the government of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, especially since we are in the winter season with the accompanying difficulties and challenges for the displaced.
Al-Nouri added that the Ministry has advance preparations to receive climate changes, as well as monitoring and following up on citizens in areas of displacement due to drought, adding that the Ministry may seek assistance from international organizations and the capabilities of other ministries in order to determine the difficulties faced by the displaced.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Immigration and Displacement pointed out that the countdown has begun to end the displacement file, noting that what remains are 26 camps, most of them in the Kurdistan region, and 27 thousand families, most of them from Sinjar district.
