Finance directs the financing of the region’s account to disburse salaries

The Federal Ministry of Finance directed yesterday, Monday, to fund the region’s account with more than 130 billion dinars to pay the salaries of retirees and those covered by social care in Kurdistan, after the Federal Court’s decision to provide justice to employees, retirees and those covered by social care in it, while it obligated the employees to complete localization in order to pay the salaries of the current month of March.
The Ministry of Finance, in a letter published by the Iraqi News Agency “INA”, addressed the Payments System Unit in the Ministry, saying, “Based on the directives of the Prime Minister and the approval of the Minister of Finance, and based on what was stated in the letter issued by the Federal Supreme Court, No. 224 and its consolidated / 269 Federal / 2023 At the request of the Kurdistan Regional Government, please take the necessary measures to deposit an amount of (10997100000) dinars only in the current account in the name of the Kurdistan Regional Government/Ministry of Finance and Economy/Erbil, which is open at the Central Bank of Iraq/Erbil, in order to disburse the entitlements of the disabled in the directorates of the Social Protection, Welfare and Social Development Network in Kurdistan for the month of February 2024, noting that the amount “debt” has been recorded in our current account opened with the Central Bank of Iraq.”
On the same level, the Ministry of Finance addressed in another letter to the Payments System Unit that, “Based on the directives of the Prime Minister and the approval of the Minister of Finance, and based on what was stated in the letter issued by the Federal Supreme Court No. 224 and the request of the Kurdistan Regional Government, please take the necessary measures to deposit an amount of ( 119139195614 dinars, in the current account in the name of the Kurdistan Regional Government and open at the Central Bank of Iraq/Erbil, in order to disburse the entitlements of civilian and military retirees in the Kurdistan Region for the month of February 2024, and note that the amount has been recorded as a “debt” in our current account open with the Central Bank of Iraq.
The Ministry confirmed that the salaries for the month of March would not be released unless the requirements for salary localization were completed by the region, and it reported in its two letters that funding for salaries for the month of February had been launched for the Kurdistan region, since the localization mechanism requires a period of time for this month only.
The Ministry holds the Kurdistan Regional Government legally responsible for the validity and accuracy of the information and data submitted to the regulatory and legal authorities and bodies, and the responsibility for disbursing salaries to those actually entitled to them.
