Economic affairs specialists have identified appropriate measures to reduce unemployment by providing a suitable climate for foreign and local investment in a way that increases employment opportunities for the workforce, in addition to putting young people into productive sectors, developing their skills, and directing investment towards real labor-intensive opportunities.
The specialist in economic affairs, Dr. Thaer Al-Ani, urged the creation of an appropriate climate for foreign and local investment in a way that increases employment opportunities and to focus on directing investment to real labor-intensive opportunities capable of absorbing a large portion of the workforce.
He added that reducing unemployment rates is an important factor in moving the national economy, and moving the productive wheel contributes to absorbing the unemployed and employing them in state projects or the private sector.
The government program identified mechanisms for reducing unemployment rates and combating poverty by creating job opportunities for youth, supporting poor, elderly, and low-income groups of citizens, reforming the economic and financial sectors, encouraging the establishment of small and medium enterprises, and improving the efficiency of the social protection network.
For his part, the specialist and economic researcher, Dr. Abdul Karim Al-Issawi, said in a statement followed by Mawazine News, that addressing unemployment in the country, especially the unemployment of young graduates, is through encouraging them to work in the productive and service sectors by developing their technical skills, as well as spreading industries in the regions. With a dense population to stabilize the workforce in their original regions, because there is a large migration from the poor southern governorates towards the economically active governorates.
Al-Issawi called for attention to tourist and archaeological areas, as there are many sites spread throughout the country, and that moving the wheel of this sector also contributes to creating job opportunities for young people, due to its connection with other economic sectors such as airports, hotels and restaurants.
Al-Issawi stressed giving real opportunities to the private sector to work and participate in all economic decisions on an equal footing with the public sector in all production and service fields.
He stated that one of the important things that helps in reducing unemployment is providing legal and financial facilities to encourage companies to open full or partial production branches in the country, which is called the localization of industries, and these steps can be implemented in light of the mutual need of international and regional companies searching for a job market. And re-distributing its products to the local market.
