Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Legal Expert, Ahmed al-Ebadi, stated that attorney general is a part of the judiciary along with the Supreme Judicial Council, the Federal Court, the Court of Cassation and the Judicial Supervision Committee.
In a press statement received by IraqiNews.com, he said “Article 89 of the constitution stated that judiciary including the attorney general, is independent and not to belong to any ministry where no one have the authority on it.”
“The attorney general is an observatory authority that is it responsible for protecting the State’s system and the security of its institution in addition to the high interests of the Iraqi people,” he added, noting that “It also has the authority of inspecting the governmental institutions according to Article 7 of the Second Chapter of the attorney general law.”
