IED blast kills two policemen in Ramadi

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Two policemen were killed due to an IED blast, south of Ramadi city, a source from police in Anbar province has said.
“An IED exploded on Monday on a street south of Ramadi killing two policemen,” the source told AlSumaria News.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, the source added that “the bomb went off while security troops were transferring it a place to blow it in the south of Ramadi.”
Security troops are still in the process of getting rid of explosives that were planted by the Islamic State militants before the city was liberated in late 2015.
Islamic State still holds a few areas in Salahuddin, Diyala, Anbar and Kirkuk, occasionally using them as launching points for its attacks against civilians and security.
Violence and armed conflicts claimed the lives of 317 Iraqis and caused injuries to 403 others during the month of April, according to a monthly count released by the United Nations Assistance Mission (UNAMI).
Nineveh, where U.S.-backed Iraqi government troops are fighting against IS militants in Mosul since October, was the most affected governorate, with 276 casualties (153 killed, 123 injured), according to UNAMI. Baghdad governorate came next with 55 killed and 179 injured. Salahuddin came third, with 15 killed and 43 injured.
