    A number of observers stated that there are disagreements within the Kurdish house that are obstructing the procedures for forming a parliament and a government for the Kurdistan Region.

    Al-Janabi explained that "the differences within the Kurdish house are hindering the efforts to form...[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]The government in the region," noting that "it is easy to overcome this problem by returning to the election law and choosing a president for the region after obtaining an absolute majority of 51 members of parliament."
     
    Al-Janabi expected that "cooperation between the two main parties, the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union, will continue in the coming period to form the new government," and pointed out that "Al-Sudani's visit to Kurdistan comes within the efforts to bring viewpoints closer together and expedite the formation of the regional government."
     
    The Independent High Electoral Commission in Iraq announced that the Kurdistan Democratic Party won the largest number of seats in the Kurdistan Regional Parliament.
     
    According to the final results of the regional parliament elections, the Kurdistan Democratic Party won 39 seats, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan came in second with 23 seats, the Kurdistan Islamic Union won 7 seats, the National Position Movement won 4 seats, the Kurdistan Justice Group won 3 seats, the People's Front won 2 seats, the Change Movement won 1 seat, and the Kurdistan Region Alliance won 1 seat as well.
