    Information/Baghdad...
The Parliamentary Legal Committee revealed, today, Thursday, the date of the entry into force of the new Personal Status Law, noting that Personal Status Law No. 188 will remain in effect until the arrival of the jurisprudential code for the new law.
Committee member MP Aref Al-Hamami said in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency, "The House of Representatives will proceed with its sessions in order to decide on the vote on the proposed Personal Status Law in the coming few days after the House worked to extend its legislative term for a month."
He added, "The new personal status law will be voted on, but it will not be effective until the arrival of the legal code of the Shiite sect, which is specific to the new law."
He stated that "Personal Status Law No. 188 of 1959 will remain in effect until the arrival of the jurisprudential code for the new law, so that it can enter into force as a personal status law for the Shiite component." End 25N
