{Politics: Al Furat News} The First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al Mandalawi, received in his guest house today, Thursday, the Special Envoy of the United Nations in Iraq, and Head of the UNAMI Mission, Mohammed Al Hassan, to exchange views on the developments in the local political scene, and to discuss the role played by the United Nations in supporting the reform and stability process in the country.
Al-Mandlawi stressed in a statement by his office, a copy of which was received by {Euphrates News}, that "the supreme religious authority in Najaf al-Ashraf (may his shadow endure) identified the most prominent problems that Iraq is going through and provided advice to address them for the sake of a dear, capable and strong homeland, and that its fatwa for sufficient jihad has protected Iraq, the region and the world from the danger of terrorism and extremism, indicating that Iraq represents the key to the gateway to stability in the Middle East, and that its parliamentary and governmental efforts aim to stop the Zionist aggression and prevent its expansion in the region, and it is unacceptable for it to become an arena for interventions or attacks on its brothers and neighbors."
The two sides discussed "in detail the plans and role of the United Nations in supporting the process of stability and reform in the country, where the UN envoy praised the period in which Mandalawi chaired the Iraqi and Arab parliaments, and stressed that the current stage requires double efforts and steps to achieve more reforms, and to maintain the state of security and political stability."
Al-Mandlawi and Al-Hassan also discussed "the events taking place in the region, most notably the crimes committed by the Zionist entity against the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples and their impact on regional and international peace and security."
