Moscow: Cooperation with Washington in the fight against terrorism is ambiguous under sanctions

The Russian Foreign Ministry announced that prospects for cooperation between Moscow and Washington in the fight against terrorism appear ambiguous in light of the adoption of the new US penal code.
"US President Donald Trump has announced his interest in developing cooperation with Russia in this area, but this has not been reflected in specific actions," said Elia Rogachev, director of the new threats and challenges department at the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"Time is going on, but nothing has changed compared to the previous administration," Rogachev said.
The Russian diplomat noted that cooperation in this area has continued somewhat in the recent period, pointing out that there is positive experience of the cooperation of the two countries in Syria, especially with regard to the establishment of tension-easing areas, despite many differences between Moscow and Washington on the Syrian crisis.
Trump signed Wednesday a law adopted by Congress to tighten sanctions against Russia, Iran and North Korea.
At the same time, the US president described this document as "inferior"
