China warns the United States of harming its interests

China warned on Tuesday that it would not remain idle if Washington imposed sanctions on it, saying it would defend its rights with all its might.
"If the United States takes measures that violate bilateral trade and violate international trade rules, China will not leave that without a response," Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said in a press statement.
"China will take all appropriate measures to protect its legitimate rights and interests," the minister said, without elaborating what actions Beijing might take against the United States.
The comments came in response to US President Donald Trump's signing on Monday, in which he asked US Trade Representative Robert Laitheiser to open an investigation into allegations that China violated US intellectual property rights.
US officials accuse China of pursuing illegal policies and practices with regard to "forced transfers of US technology and the theft of US intellectual property." Ending / 25
