leaking US secret cable reveals the opinion of Hamad bin Khalifa on Iraq and Talabani What did he say?

In the context of disclosing details of secret cables written by US diplomats about Qatar, its Arab relations, regional neighbors and Israel, one US cable this time revealed the view of the former emir of Qatar, Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, in 2008 about the situation in Iraq, and attacked Iraq And leaders, and said it is difficult to deal with the Iraqis, and can not be trusted, considering that the then Iraqi president Jalal Talabani "is not a strong leader," he said.

Hamad revealed his position during a meeting with US Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England in Doha on August 6, 2008. The meeting was summarized in a confidential cable drafted by US Ambassador to Qatar Joseph Labaron on December 12.

When asked about Iraq, he said that "Iraqis are difficult people, we can not trust them, and obviously the United States can not leave Iraq immediately."

"The challenge is to find a strong leader who can control Iraq, Jalal Talabani is not a strong leader," the cable said of the former Emir of Qatar.

"The chaos will prevail if Iraq leaves the United States very early," he said. "I think Iraq will become chaos anyway."

The former Emir of Qatar said the key to stability in Iraq was his relationship with Iran, saying that Tehran "is in fact the key to the entire region."
