    Philippine President Rodrigo Duterti said on Sunday that it is better to leave the sovereignty file in the South China Sea alone.

    "We have to be friends, there are other reckless people who would like to face China and the rest of the world on many issues," Duterti said at a ceremony on the eve of a summit hosted by his country's capital for East and Southeast Asian nations.

    "It is better to leave the South China Sea file intact, no one can afford to go to war," he said.

    China has claimed sovereignty over most of the South China Sea, while Taiwan, Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia and Brunei have disputed it. Finished
