[ltr]Professor Robert Farley, an American expert in defense and national security issues, wrote in The National Interest in the five areas where World War III could erupt in 2018.[/ltr]
[ltr]"The world succeeded in passing through 2017 without returning to the destructive conflict with the participation of the major powers," he wrote, "and the tension in some areas (particularly in Syria) has decreased markedly.[/ltr]
[ltr]North Korea leads the list of Professor Farley, where the situation around it is the most serious modern crisis. "North Korea's successes in ballistic missiles, coupled with the lack of diplomatic expertise to manage Trump, have created a very difficult situation," he said.[/ltr]
[ltr]He added that the mistakes of Pyongyang on the one hand and Washington on the other, may result in the outbreak of war, which will have to Japan and China to participate as well.[/ltr]
[ltr]Professor Taiwan describes the second area where there may be a major conflict. Noting that Chinese diplomat Li Kexin recently said that Beijing would "unite Taiwan" by force as soon as US military ships arrived on the island.[/ltr]
[ltr]"Important players such as China and the United States are ready to allow predictable and cautious relations that require undue development, which could spark a devastating conflict," Farley said.[/ltr]
[ltr]Ukraine ranks third on the list. Farley believes that the situation is still tense because of the continuing violation of the truce in the east of the country and the continuing protests in Kiev and the continuation of what he called a "brutal story" about Mikhail Saakashvili, adding that all these factors jeopardize the work of the current Ukrainian government.[/ltr]
[ltr]In the view of the professor that the split of the Ukrainian government may lead to negative consequences of the intensification of the crisis, especially infiltration of extremists to power, which, he said, will lead to the outbreak of conflict in the Donbass again.[/ltr]
[ltr]He also did not rule out the possibility of strengthening Moscow's presence in Ukraine in the case of the collapse of the current authorities, which may result in the large-scale military confrontation between Russia and the West.[/ltr]
[ltr]The fourth region capable of becoming a center for the outbreak of World War III is Farley, Turkey. Ankara's secession from the European Union and the United States and its proximity to Moscow are seen as a sign of a serious change in the region's balance of power.[/ltr]
[ltr]He pointed out that Turkey, Russia and the United States do not see war as a reasonable way to resolve the current diplomatic situation, but changes in the balance of power in the region, in his opinion, significantly affect the development of the situation in Syria, Iraq, Iran, the Balkans and the Caucasus.[/ltr]
[ltr]The Persian Gulf ranks last in Farley's list. Who suggested to readers to pay attention to the confrontation between Saudi Arabia and Iran. Pointing out that this region has experienced conflicts in the past but did not turn into global wars. "But Riyadh has clearly understood its readiness to form a military and diplomatic alliance against Iran and even Israel's annexation." In the light of Russia's efforts to defend its interests in the region again, it is very easy to imagine how this situation will turn into a real confrontation between the major powers. Ending 29/34[/ltr]

The US expert on defense and national security, Professor Robert Farley, said the five areas where World War III could erupt in 2018.
"The world passed through 2017 without returning to the devastating conflict with the participation of the major powers," Farley wrote in the National Interest, "The tension in some areas, especially in Syria, has decreased markedly, and in other areas, "He said.

    North Korea
North Korea leads the list of Professor Farley, where the situation around it is the most serious modern crisis. "North Korea's successes in ballistic missiles and the lack of diplomatic expertise of the administration of President Donald Trump have created a very difficult situation," he said.
Noting that the mistakes of Pyongyang on the one hand and Washington on the other, may result in the outbreak of war, which will also have to Japan and China to participate.

    Taiwan
In the article, Farley describes Taiwan as the second region where a major conflict could erupt, adding that Chinese diplomat Li Kexin recently said that Beijing would "unify Taiwan" by force as soon as US military ships arrived on the island.
Farley said important players such as China and the United States were ready to allow predictable and cautious diplomatic relations to evolve indefinitely, sparking a devastating conflict.

    Ukraine
Ukraine ranked third on the list. Farley thinks the situation is still tense because of the continuing violation of the truce in the east of the country and the continuing protests in Kiev.
He also did not rule out the possibility of strengthening Moscow's presence in Ukraine in the case of the collapse of the current authorities, which may result in the large-scale military confrontation between Russia and the West.

    Turkey
Turkey is a fourth region capable of becoming a center for the outbreak of World War III. Ankara's secession from the European Union and the United States and its proximity to Moscow is seen as a sign of a serious change in the balance of power in the region.
He pointed out that Turkey, Russia and the United States do not see war as a reasonable way to resolve the current diplomatic situation, but changes in the balance of power in the region, in his opinion, significantly affect the development of the situation in Syria, Iraq, Iran, the Balkans and the Caucasus.

    The Arabian Gulf
The Arab Gulf occupies the last place on the Farley list, which suggested to readers to pay attention to the confrontation between Saudi Arabia and Iran, noting that the region has experienced conflicts in the past but has not turned into global wars.
He said Riyadh had clearly declared its readiness to form a military and diplomatic alliance against Iran and even to annex Israel.
In light of Russia's efforts to defend its interests in the region again, it is very easy to imagine how this situation will turn into a real confrontation between the major powers. Finished

i would say north korea. but, i think it will fizzle out soon, because north korea is just making noise and will soon figure out that a major conflict between them and the U.S. would be suicide for them. they certainly have to know that if they fired the first shot that china would more than likely stay neutral. south korea and the U.S.would unleash holy hell on them. south korea would be a force to be reckoned with because they're in north koreas backyard. i'm not saying that north korea would be a pushover, but in the end, they would be no more. i think cooler heads will prevail. jmho

People used to say, "The next World War will be fought in space."
    Anybody remember that?

The motto after WWII was  -  Never Again.

And it should be 'Never Again'
