North Korea's leader Kim Jong-un has ordered the opening of a long-standing border border with South Korea to start talks.
A North Korean official said in a statement that the line would be opened at 0630 GMT on Wednesday.
He said the talks would aim to open an official dialogue on sending a North Korean delegation to the Winter Olympic Games in Pyongchang, South Korea, next month, Reuters reported.
The statement comes a day after South Korea proposed high-level discussions with North Korea following a speech by Kim earlier that he was open to dialogue with Seoul.
For its part, Seoul welcomed the reopening of the inter-Korean communication line and considered it "very important"
