    North Korea agreed Thursday on a proposal for its southern neighbor to hold the first parliamentary meeting between the two countries this year. 
    "Pyongyang has agreed to the proposal in principle," North Korea's Supreme People's Assembly (NPC) President Choi Thi Bock said in a letter to South Korean parliament speaker Mon Hee Sang, quoted by the Yonhap news agency. . 
    "The role of parliaments and political parties in the two Koreas is very important in implementing the agreements of the September and April summits," he said. 
    "I hope the National Assembly will ratify the inter-Korean summit agreements as soon as possible," the official said.
