America seeks German extradition accused of helping bin Laden in September 11 attacks

    Thursday, January 18

The US public prosecutor said on Thursday he was seeking extradition of a German accused of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in 2001 from France, saying the suspect had a personal relationship with al - Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden .

"The German citizen Christine Jansharki, who is currently in a French prison, gave al-Qaeda knowledge and technology to carry out attacks against the US military and its allies," said the US federal prosecutor in Manhattan, Dana Buenti. "He faces charges including conspiring to kill US citizens and provide support and material resources to terrorists. "

"He is also accused of collaborating with al-Qaeda leaders on a regular basis by carrying out the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks," he said. "He traveled from Germany to Pakistan and Afghanistan at least five times between 1999 and 2001."

A French court in 2009 sentenced 18-year-old Janacharski to his role in a bomb attack on a synagogue in Tunisia that killed 21 people, including 14 German tourists.
