    A former US military officer believes that Sadr City in Baghdad is central to the memories of thousands of American individuals who fought in the invasion of Iraq, years of continuous defection.
    "For us who fought there, we justify the name of that city by the ghosts that we were forced to befriend," a report by Fox News reported on former US military commander Boon Kotler and author of Fudo in Sadr City.
    "Sadr City is part of us, and the city never leaves us, we all left something we miss there, it's the cradle of lives that are separate from the bodies there," he said.
    In April 2003, the second US Army Squadron of the Armored Cavalry Regiment was based at the abandoned cigarette factory in Sadr City. It consisted of more than 1,000 soldiers and military police.
