    The US Department of Defense has decided to prevent military personnel deployed on military missions from using location features on smart phones, fitness gauges, and other devices that can detect military personnel.
    "Geographical location capabilities can reveal personal information, sites, routine work and the numbers of personnel of the ministry, and may cause unintended security consequences and increase risks to the joint force and mission," the ministry said.
    The defense ministry said the ban was "immediately lifted."
    The Pentagon's decision came in response to concerns raised last January when an Australian researcher's analysis of the data revealed the application of the "trachea," which tracks fitness levels, about the activities of its users on the positions of US soldiers in Syria and Iraq.
    Strava has published thermal maps illustrating the movements of people who exercise, wear fitness gauges, and spread the timing and location of exercises through application. Finished
