) - A number of citizens demonstrated in Baghdad on Wednesday in Al-Rasheed Street in the center of the capital to demand their money "held" at the Warka Bank in the capital.

A reporter for Alsumaria News, said that a number of citizens demonstrated today, in the area of Rashid Street in front of the Central Bank of Iraq's central Baghdad, to demand the release of their money held with the Warka Bank in the capital.

The protesters confirmed that their money had been in the bank for eight years.

You can withdraw your money if you are in country that’s according to my bank contact, but by the looks of it not even locals can get their money out

Warka is under Cbi control....I doubt they will survive, by the sounds of it they are trying to prevent a bank run which would collapse the bank. I have read reports about warka owners fleeing to other countries. Warka isx sent out emails asking staff to transfer share ownership in their own names and if it wasn’t done by a due date they would loose them. I also know they have posted updates asking people if they want to buy shares to contact them, but my opinion they are bankrupt or on the verge.

I have relatives and fri nds who have money in warka and I have told them to expect the worse. I have also read that asiacell has a multi billion dinar law suit, I think about 39 million dollars or something like that...

If Warka is under control of the CBI this doesn't look good for our dinar... Maybe I'm missing something...
