    "I have discussed a comprehensive roadmap to support the plans and the vision of the Lebanese Ministry of Energy and Water, which was set up in 2010 to develop the Lebanese energy sector from generation plants through transmission and distribution networks," the company said in a statement received by Alsumaria News. "The event, which was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy and Water, witnessed the presence of more than 140 people, led by Minister César Abi Khalil, the Ambassador of the United States of America in Lebanon, HE Elizabeth Richard, and a number of officials. Government officials, industry experts, owners, power plant operators and LEP engineers, contractors, developers and consultants. "

    "Our main priority is to strengthen the infrastructure of the electricity sector to address the current shortage, based on the importance of energy in supporting the development of national infrastructures in various fields," Abu Khalil said during the statement. "We can make qualitative changes in the energy sector through Building cooperation with private sector companies such as General Electric, which has provided a comprehensive roadmap and technologies that are in line with our objectives to lay a solid foundation for the sustainability of the Lebanese energy sector in the future. " 

    Lebanon is estimated to have a power shortage of up to 1.5 GW, with electricity demand growing at an annual rate of 5% between 2018 and 2021 and 3% between 2021 and 2030. 

    Challenges related to the shortage of energy produced by Network-related issues, such as network fragmentation and network violations.

    The roadmap includes several proposals, including the 

    addition of 1.5 gigawatts using fast power generation technologies and the creation of new, simple cycle stations with three types of fuel, including heavy oil, light diesel and natural gas, as well as wind power generating stations Clean energy, so in the short term. 

    Increase the production capacity by an additional 1.3 GW through the construction of new composite cycle stations, the conversion of simple cycle stations into the combined cycle to facilitate the generation of larger amounts of electricity without increasing fuel consumption, and the establishment of new wind power plants in the medium term 

    plus 2.7 Gigawatts to meet Lebanon's energy needs through new combined cycle stations and the establishment of renewable energy generation facilities over the long term.

    As well as enhancing network performance by extending up to six substations, establishing up to 17 new substations, and installing an integrated power management system that enables the Ministry to identify the loss areas of the network. 

    "General Electric has a strong presence in the Lebanese energy sector, from the operation of the first steam turbine in 1987, and the first GE gas turbine to come into operation," said General Medhat Al Marabi, General Manager of GE Energy Services Business Unit in the Middle East, North Africa and Iraq. In 1996 in Lebanon. " 

    "We are pleased today to continue this cooperation by providing a comprehensive road map aimed at providing electricity throughout Lebanon and enhancing the performance of the energy sector today and in the future, thus contributing to establishing solid foundations that also support the social development process in the country."

    GE has a strong presence in more than 20 countries in the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey and has been supporting the development of its energy sector for more than 80 years. 

    GE's gas and steam turbines are currently being used by more than 360 customers in these regions, contributing up to one-third of the energy produced.
