[rtl]BAGHDAD (Reuters) - The education committee of Baghdad's provincial council on Tuesday called on its parliamentary counterpart to cooperate in tracking "stolen billions" from the demolition of 150 schools in the capital and transferring them to government companies.[/rtl]
[rtl]"More than 150 schools in Baghdad have been demolished and transferred to government companies without starting to build them," said Javad al-Dalfi, deputy chairman of the committee. "There is a clear corruption and billions of dollars have been stolen and transferred."[/rtl]
[rtl]He added that "this issue needs parliamentary intervention because the provincial councils are the weakest link in the case because the contract was concluded between the education and the ministries concerned." He pointed out that "the parliamentary education committee has to move this file and we are ready to cooperate with it."[/rtl]
