    Information / Baghdad ..
A member of the oil and energy parliamentary committee Ali al-Aboudi said on Friday that the recent earthquake that hit Iran and some of Iraq's provinces led to the suspension of gas supplies from the main stations and thus some stations will be out of service.
"The earthquake that hit Iran and its arrival in Iraq has stopped the supply of gas to the power plants, and thus these stations will be out of action," Aboudi said in a statement.
He added that "the problem is not in the importation of stations, but in the fuel supplied, where there is poor coordination between the ministries of electricity and oil, as a result of individual decisions, which led to the use of electricity to import fuel and contracting with companies to set up stations using high-cost fuel."
He explained that "energy development projects need time, in addition to regulating the consumption of electricity, as enough 16 thousand megawatts of energy to meet the need of Iraq, but that needs reasonable consumption and not excessive."
He stressed that "there is a contract signed in the era of the previous government with Siemens for the purpose of developing power plants and increase production, but the problem was how to distribute and rationalize." End 25 n
