(Baghdad: Al Furat News) The Parliamentary Services and Construction Committee revealed the intention to submit new tenders for communication companies to reduce fees and quality of communications, after the failure of companies in force to achieve quality communication to citizens.
Waleed Al-Sahlani, a member of the committee, told Al-Furat News that "the Commission's follow-up to the communications sector is bad in all parts of Iraq." He pointed out that "the licenses granted to the companies so far are only an interface to maintain the general situation as companies are open, Without the presence of competing companies on the ground can achieve better quality and service to citizens. "
He pointed out that "the existence of a very large intention of the Services Committee to audit the subject of communications to be diagnosed errors and address them in accordance with scientific frameworks, in addition to the subject of licenses granted to companies in the past years without opening the space for some of the competing companies.
Al-Sahlani confirmed to the {Euphrates News} "put the idea in a meeting of the Committee and therefore can be framed in a law sent to the government," but added, "must be put forward competition, it is not logical that Iraq stands on one dominant and controlling the atmosphere, especially Zain and MTC Asia Cell and Cork Telecom ".
Iraq has given Zain and the other two mobile phone operators the right to provide 3G services, reversing a previous decision to halt a multi-million dollar auction, ending years of stagnation and damaging the development of its largest non-oil sectors.
A statement issued by the site of the Secretariat of the Council of Ministers of Iraq, "the approval to grant mobile phone companies operating in Iraq the right to use frequencies of the third generation." The Iraqi government announced in 2007 that MTC Atheer, Asia Cell and Cork Telecom won the auction of mobile phone licenses in Iraq held in Amman, Jordan.
